Big Three top brasses to meet today

KATHMANDU: In an attempt to end the prolonged House deadlock, UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal today decided to hold a high-level meeting of the top leaders of three major parties tomorrow.

Maoists' vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and UML general secretary Ishwor Pokharel were also present at the meeting held at the parliamentary party office of the UML in Singh Durbar.

Leaders of both the parties said that they would hold talks with Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala to find solution. "The responsibility of arranging the three-party talks has been entrusted to UML chairman Khanal," said Shrestha. During the hour-long meeting, the Maoist leaders clarified that they had not added any other conditions except for addressing their demand of civilian supremacy in the proposed sankalpa prastav.

"We requested the Maoist leaders to withdraw their protest plan and help draft the constitution,” said Khanal.
