BIRGUNJ: India’s Bihar government has sent electric equipment worth more than Rs 20 million to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to resume electricity service disturbed by the deadly earthquake of April 25.

To resume the halted electricity service, Bihar state government has sent an assistance of 13 trucks of electric equipment to NEA. Trucks loaded with electric equipment entered Nepal via Birgunj border point yesterday.

Consul General of India Anju Ranjan said Bihar government had given assistance of electric equipment to resume power supply as power disruption had affected rescue and treatment of the injured. The trucks have brought transformers, wires and insulators.

The Consulate of India, Birgunj, said Joint Secretary Punit Agrawal of the India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs would be coming to Nepal to assess rescue operation launched by India in Nepal.

The consulate office said 142 trucks loaded with relief materials had entered Nepal. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar governments have sent 100 and 42 trucks loaded with relief materials respectively to Nepal.
