Biplav-led CPN cadre arrested in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Police have arrested a cadre of Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) from Baseni area in Bharatpur Metropolis-11 of Chitwan district, on Tuesday.

A special police unit deployed from District Police Office, Chitwan apprehended Biplav-led CPN party standing committee member Guna Raj Lohani, this morning, police said.

"The arrested cadre has been detained at the DPO for further investigation," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ek Narayan Koirala, said.

Police will present the Biplav-led CPN cadre before the court tomorrow to extend his remand in custody, according to DSP Koirala.

It has been learnt that Lohani has been serving as chairman of ratokhabar.com, an online news portal affiliated with the party, in the district.

Ever since the government announced an absolute ban on the Biplav-led CPN, various key leaders, party's standing committee members and other cadres have been arrested from across the nation.
