Birgunj point padlocked

BIRGUNJ: Transport entrepreneurs and custom brokers indefinitely padlocked the Birgunj customs point today demanding the cancellation of the government decision of supplying goods only in containers via Birgunj point. Owners of 10-wheeler trucks said their investment was put to risk by the decision.

Former chairman of Birgunj Customs Agent Organisation Umesh Nepal said the new provision was a nuisance. "We will continue the protest until the government rolls back the decision," said Nepal. The finance ministry decision came into effect on March 14.
