Birgunj traders want Sitaula to quit

Birgunj, November 6:

Traders in Birgunj today organised a rally, demanding Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula’s resignation for his alleged failure in maintaining law and order in the country.

The rallyists said the security agencies have failed to control a series of criminal activities in Bara and Parsa districts.

The rally was organised by the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI).

The rally was taken out from the BCCI office premises with tight police security. In the past, the rallies used to staged without any security arrangement. However, due to deteriorating security condition of the nation, armed policemen provided security in the rally today.

The rally later converged into a corner meeting at Maisthan Chowk. Addressing the gathering, chairman of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries Bijay Sarawagi said: “The Home Minister, who fails to provide security to civilians, should resign immediately. Criminals are attacking traders here frequently.”

Locals here are terrified after the murder of two traders in Bara this week. About half-a-dozen criminal gangs are issuing threats to the Birgunj-based traders over the telephone daily.
