Black marketing of fuel goes unchecked

As the country is reeling under acute fuel shortage, black marketing of petroleum products is on the rise in Tahaun.

According to sources, some of the traders were found selling petroleum products imported via Thori border point in Chitwan at very high prices. It is said that the traders have been charging anything from Rs 500-600 for a litre of petrol.

However, the petroleum products is said to be adulterated. Even as black marketing of petroleum products goes unchecked the authorities have kept mum. Passengers complained that public vehicles were overcharging them citing fuel shortage.

Meanwhile, the District Administration Office, Tanahun claimed that the petrol pumps were distributing petroleum products at the rate fixed by the government .

CDO Mahadev Panth said he had received no complaints regarding black marketing of petroleum products in the district. “If any body is found black marketing petroleum products, stern action would be taken against them,” said Panth.
