Blacklist guilty election officers: Yadav

Kavre, November 7

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav today directed chief returning officers to blacklist election officers found working insincerely.

CEC Yadav gave such directive while addressing a regional trainers’ training on voting and vote counting guidelines meant for election officers of provinces 2 and 3 in Kavre.

Yadav said that holding the upcoming elections in a free and fair manner was a big challenge for the election body and it wanted all its officers to be working diligently. He said election officers found making errors would be marked.

“In the past, election officers were found to have not signed the ballot papers and left the voting centres unmanaged. If such mistakes recur, mark their names in the blacklist”, Yadav directed.

Yadav urged the chief returning officers, CDOs and District Education Officers to pay special attention during polls. Stating that people’s votes were not commodities of exchange, Yadav stressed that sale and purchase of votes was unacceptable in democracy. He urged the concerned to train vote counters well to minimise and avoid disputes.
