Blood shortage in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Chitwan has witnessed blood crisis with the onset of monsoon. According to the Regional Blood Transmission Centre, Bharatpur, the crisis had appeared in the centre since past 15 days.

Centre Chief Ramesh Kanta Poudel said the crisis of blood emerged with the rise in temperature, start of monsoon and busy schedule of blood donors' in paddy plantation.

Though the demand for blood in Chitwan is around 150 unit per day it has not been met, he said. In this season, there is huge demand for blood with growing flow of patients in the hospital but the blood donation events to address the crisis are meager.

The Office has urged social organisations to hold blood donation programmes in order to address blood deficit in the district.
