Itahari, July 4:

Relatives of the victims of the June 30 boat mishap in the Sapta Koshi river have started a sit-in protest in front of the Sunsari district administration office. They have been demanding that their six-point charter of demands be met at the earliest. Earlier, they handed over a memorandum to the Chief District Officer, Sarada Bhakta Poudel, and said their protest would continue until their demands were met. Some 100 residents of the Sri Lanka Tappu had arrived here yesterday evening. The protesters have demanded compensation to the victims’ family, stern action against the contractor who operated the boat and fishermen who were drunk while rowing the boat.
