Body stranded in Saudi hospital

Ramechhap, May 13

The body of Bom Bahadur Tamang, 50, of Hiledevi VDC, Ramechhap remains stranded in a hospital in Saudi Arabia since the last five years.

Bom Bahadur went to Saudi Arabia for employment and had fallen sick three years after starting work.

He died in the course of treatment in a hospital in 2011. Family members performed his final rites around four years ago without his body.

Bom Bahadur’s son Raj Kumar said the hospital refused to send the body to Nepal as his family could not afford the medical bills.

His family added that they have not yet received the salary he earned while working at a private company in the Gulf country.

“We have requested various government offices to help bring my father’s body back home, but no one has so far extended any help,” said Raj Kumar.

However, according to Raj Kumar, Safe Immigration Information and Counselling Centre, Manthali has taken initiatives to bring the body back home.
