Bombs found on eve of SPA’s Morang meet
Biratnagar, January 16:
Two socket bombs were found from separate places in Biratnagar, Morang, this morning.
A team of the Armed Police Force from the Tankisinawari-based Kankalini battalion later defused the bombs.
Police said a socket bomb was found at the Morang branch office of the Federation of
Nepali Journalists in Biratnagar-14 and an unclaimed socket bomb was also found in Biratnagar-17, Roadses Chowk.
Issuing a release, the FNJ branch condemned the incident. In another incident yesterday, police defused a bomb found from Budhhat Chowk. Apart from that three bombs were detonated in in Biratnagar last night.
UML district committee secretary Naresh Pokharel said those against the CA polls were behind the incident. CDO Madhav Prasad Regmi echoed his views, saying they
were trying to defer the mass meeting of the seven parties scheduled for January 19, Regmi said.
He added that an investigation into the incidents was underway.
DSP Bidyananda Majhi said police have made necessary security arrangements.
