Damak, May 4:

About two lakh children of the government and community schools in four districts of the Mechi zone have been affected due to unavailability of textbooks.

The shortage of books has resulted in the disruption of classes in schools — especially primary level — in Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam and Jhapa districts.

The District Education Offices (DEOs) of the districts concerned admitted that the classes are not being run smoothly although three weeks have elapsed since the new academic session started.
