Boucher’s India visit to feature Nepal

New Delhi, March 2:

US deputy secretary of state in-charge of South Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher, will visit India on Tuesday. His visit will also feature a discussion on the recent political developments in Nepal.

In this connection, as a preparation for Boucher’s visit, high-level officials of the US and India recently held consultations on recent political developments in Nepal. “Boucher will meet Indian foreign secretary Shiv Shankar Menon. He will hold discussions on political developments in Nepal and Pakistan and on the Indo-US atomic energy accord,” a source said. Recently, US ambassador to Nepal Nancy Powell had visited New Delhi and held discussion on Nepal.

Meanwhile, the meeting of the South Asian Free Trade Agreement is in progress here. Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Shyam Sundar Gupta arrived here to attend the meeting.
