NAWALPARASI: The Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Tuesday caught red-handed a non-gazetted officer (Nayab Subba) of the Land Revenue Office, Kawasoti while receiving Rs 50,000 in bribe.
A team of the CIAA deployed from Butwal nabbed Krishna Prasad Pokharel with the money from the Raukuwa Restaurant today.
Pokharel, however, denied the allegation and claimed that he had not asked any bribe from anyone adding that someone is trying to tarnish his image.
According to Pokharel, he was called urgently in the office this morning to settle some pending works though he was in a leave today.
The anti-graft body said that Narayan Prasad Paudel, a land entrepreneur, had given the amount to Pokharel.
The Commission is investigating into the case, Dhanishwor Paudel, Account Officer at the CIAA informed.
Baburam Khanal, Chief at the land revenue office, informed that Pokharel was in the leave today and hence, he can’t say anything regarding this issue.
