NAWALPARASI: After a long wait,  construction of a concrete bridge over the Chhachhadi Khola on the  Postal Road has started in Pithauli of Nawalparasi.

Nepali Congress leader and former lawmaker Mahendradhwaj GC laid the  foundation stone of the bridge amidst a programme on Saturday.

Construction of the 22 metre bridge is estimated to cost around 20 million rupees. Meanwhile,  the prospect of the bridge has got the locals elated. They had been  facing a hard time for want of a concrete bridge for long.

“We had  appealed to the concerned authorities so many times but to no avail, but  thank god work has started now,” said a local of Pithauli.

The bridge  will benefit around 15,000 households in Pithauli area.
