Factories shut

BARA: Most of the industries based in Pathlaiya-Birgunj corridor remained closed on Friday to protest the murder of Lila Prasad Lamichhane, an employee of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. Traffic was halted in Kalaiya, Parsauni, Simara, Nijgarh and Amlekhgunj. Lamichhane’s relatives took his body through the market in Simara during the protest rally. Protesters called the government to declare Lamichhane a martyr, provide compensation to his family, and punish the guilty. — HNS

Two killed

ILAM: Two persons were killed and over 10 injured when a jeep heading to Birtamod from Ranke bazaar of Ilam turned turtle at Kanyam on Mechi highway on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Harka Maya Tamang of Kanyam-2 and Khanimaya Thapa of Sankhejung-8. — HNS
