British state minister pledges continued assistance to Nepal

Kathmandu, February 23

Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada, who is currently on a visit to the United Kingdom, met Minister of State in the Department for International Development UK and member of House of Lords Michael Bates at House of Commons in London.

On the occasion, Minister of State Bates inquired about Nepal’s development, the finance ministry stated. During the meeting, the British Minister of State also inquired about post-earthquake reconstruction, implementation of federalism and development-related issues.

In response, Finance Minister Khatiwada said Nepal’s constitution was one of the best democratic constitutions of the world and Nepal had been practicing inclusiveness in its governance, adding that the women, Dalits, indigenous nationalities, Muslims and marginalised communities had more than one-third representation in the Parliament.

Bates pledged continued British cooperation in Nepal’s development.

Finance Minister Khatiwada also held discussions with businesspersons and investors of more than two dozen British companies on Thursday.

On the occasion, he told them about conducive investment opportunities in Nepal.

He also urged the British entrepreneurs to participate in the investment conference going to be organised on March 29 and 30 in Nepal.
