Budget for emergency parturition freezes

Bajura, July 18

Around two million rupees of the fund meant for launching emergency parturition service at Kolti Primary Health Centre of Bajura has been frozen.

The centre had Rs 3 million to launch the service last fiscal. “Though we purchased necessary equipment and used Rs one million that we received, the remaining two million rupees sent to the municipality for hiring the required manpower froze as the local body  could not manage staff,” said the centre Chief Dr Ganesh Chaudhary. Budhinanda Municipality Deputy-mayor Sristi Regmi admitted that part of the budget meant to start emergency parturition service at the health centre was frozen. “Though we could not start the service last fiscal, we’re committed to launch the service this fiscal,” she said.

The government had planned to launch emergency parturition service at Kolti Primary Health Centre targeting four local bodies in the northeast Bajura, and two each in Humla and Mugu.
