Burtibang Bazaar in Baglung hit by flood

BAGLUNG: Flash flood triggered by incessant rains on Tuesday night inflicted damage at Burtibang Bazaar, the center of Dhorpatan Municipality in Balgung.

According to Area Police Office, Burtibang, flood from the local Thado River entered the settlement, causing damage to 15 huts used for business purposes, destroying some of them completely. Four cemented buildings suffered partial damage in the flooding.

The flood, however, resulted in no casualty as the locals were warned in advance by the local administration. The ground floor of the under-construction Burtibang Primary Health Post has been submerged.

Health facilities based in the market area, bus park area and Devchok were hit the most by the disaster, informed Ram Narayan Subedi, a local. The downpour throughout the night forced people to spend sleepless nights.

The Local Disaster Management Committee has urged all to gear up for the rescue efforts. The flood has brought the transportation services to a halt.
