CHITWAN: A child died after a school bus hit him at Ratnanagar in Chitwan district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as two-year old Anup Chaudhary, son of a local Bishwonath Chaudhary, said SP Basanta Kunwar.

Critically injured Anup breathed his last on the way to Bharatpur for treatment, police said.

It has been learned that the driver fled the scene after the incident. Police, however, have impounded the school bus (Ba 1 Kha 6606) for investigation.

The body of the child has been kept at the Bharatpur Hospital for postmortem.

Police said that they are looking into the case.
