2 dead, 31 hurt as bus plunges 50m in Dhading

DHADING: At least two persons died while 31 others sustained injuries when a bus met with an  accident at Bishaltar of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality in Dhading  on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Rama Shankar Singh, 65, and Bachchu Ram, 30 of Susta Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi.  They died while undergoing treatment at Trauma Centre, as per DPO Dhading Inspector Barun Singh. The bus carrying 44 passengers en route to Nawalparasi from the capital plunged  100 metres below the road, said police.

Bus plunges 50m injuring 31 passengers in Dhading

DHADING: As many as 31 persons sustained injuries after a bus they were travelling on skidded of the road in Bishaltar, Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5 of Dhading district along the Prithvi Highway on Monday night.

The bus (Lu 1 Kha 6623) en route from Kathmandu to Triveni in Nawalparasi, skidded of the road and fell about 50 metres below, injuring 31 passengers aboard, at Ghoptebhir, at around 2:00 am today, according to the Gajuri-based Area Police Office (APO). The bus was ferrying 44 passengers.

A joint team of security personnel deployed from the APO and the Jogimara-based police post, has already rescued the injured including the four wheeler driver and sent them to a health institution in Kathmandu, the APO informed.

It is yet to establish the identity of the injured, said police.

Of the injured, four passengers are said to be in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation points to high speed as the cause of the accident, said police.

Just yesterday morning, a person was killed and three others were injured in a truck accident not far from the incident site.
