Businessman falls prey to gang in terror town

BIRGUNJ: An unidentified gang killed businessman Binod Kumar Agrawal, 52, in Birgunj last night. Agrawal ran a garment shop at Rugata Market, Main Road in Birgunj-12.

The police have suspected that the gang could have attacked Agrawal with a sharp weapon on his head when he was sleeping inside the shop.

"We recovered the body from a pool of blood at 5 am this morning. The floor was also smeared with blood," Bhuwaneshwor Shah, inspector, Parsa District Police Office, said.Agrawal's body bore a six-inch-deep wound, he said.

The gang probably killed Agrawal at around 11 pm, but the incident was known today morning, police said.

The assailants had broken the locks of two shops that belonged to Sohan Poddar and Chhedilal Agrawal, police said. Goods and clothes worth Rs. 10,000 were also stolen from Chhedilal's shop. The police have also found that the shutter of Agrawal's shop was unlocked.

Agrawal, who is unmarried, had no enmity or dispute with anyone, relative Rajesh Agrawal said, sobbing. The body was today taken to Birgunj based Narayani sub-regional hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the Birgunj Chambers of Commerce and Industries has condemned the heinous incident and demanded prompt action against the perpetrators.
