Businessman shot at, robbed

Biratnagar, May 19:

An unidentified gang shot at a businessman here this evening and snatched a bag containing money.

Rajesh Begani, 30, who was living in a rented room in Biratnagar-8, Mainroad, was critically injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment in the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

He was first rushed to the Koshi Zonal Hospital and then referred to the Dharan-based medical college hospital.

Police said Begani was running a money exchange counter at the main bazaar here and was shot at and robbed when he was heading to home after closing the money exchange counter.

The assailants were hiding behind a tree near his rented room and attacked him all of a sudden, police said. It was, however, not known how much money was there in the bag.

DSP at Morang district police office Bidyananda Majhi said an empty bullet shell of a Chinese pistol was recovered from the site.

The police have launched a massive man hunt and Armed Police Force team has also been mobilised in the area.
