BAJURA, FEBRUARY 7

Bajura's Kolti Primary Health Centre has conducted a successful caesarean surgery lately. According to the centre's Health Coordinator Omjung Shahi, the health post successfully operated on 30-year-old Thungchi Lohar of Budhinanda Municipality-3.

Thungchi, with the onset of labour pain, had gone to the health centre seeking delivery service.

During check-up, doctors had identified the foetus in abnormal position and preeclampsia, which is a high blood pressure disorder seen during pregnancy.

Besides high blood pressure, she also had swollen feet and respiratory complications. In view of thecomplexity of the case, the hospital had referred her to a better health facility, but the family cited lack of fund and expressed their inability to take her out of the district.

In view of the urgency of the case and hearing of the difficulty of the family, a team of doctors operated on the woman at the health centre itself. A team led by Dr Ranjit Shah and gynaecologist Dr Sonam Gurung successfully operated on the patient and delivered the baby. According to Health Coordinator Shahi, the health condition of both the mother and son is normal. Doctors said they were compelled to operate with the family's consent as the woman was already in critical condition.
