CA chair for independent judiciary

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Constituent Assembly Subas Nembang today assured that the next constitution would ensure judicial independence. "Independent judiciary is pertinen and will be enshrined in the statute," Nembang said.Nembang was speaking at an interaction programme on Constitution Making and Justice System organised by the Nepal Bar Council.

Constitutional Committee (CC) chairman Nilambar Acharya said the judiciary cannot move forward without the independence of judges. "We should all be ready to work in order to ensure the independence of the judiciary," he added.

Supreme Court registrar Dr Ram Krishna Timalsena said, "This is everyone's demand that judiciary remain an independent institution for the sake of democracy and individuals' rights."
