CA suspends rule to begin discussion on statute draft

Update:

Amid protest from leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal and Madhesi parties, the CA Rule 93(3) has been suspended.

The suspension allows the CA to begin formal discussions on the preliminary draft of the constitution from tomorrow, without providing seven for the study.

Nepali Congress (NC) Chief Whip Chin Kaji Shrestha had presented a proposal for the suspension, which was seconded by UML and UCPN-Maoist Chief Whips Agni Kharel and Giriraj Mani Pokharel.

CA meeting delayed over dispute on draft study time

KATHMANDU: The Constitution Assembly meeting called for 11 am on Thursday to discuss on the draft of the new constitution has not been started yet.

The meeting has been delayed after Sadhabhavana Party leader Laxman Lal Karna among other leaders demanded seven days of time to study the draft.

According to the CA Rule 93 (3), the draft of new constitution should be distributed to each CA member, seven days before the discussion starts.
