KATHMANDU: The government on Thursday has decided to officially ask the Election Commission to make preparations for local elections. A Cabinet meeting, held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers this evening, took decision to this effect. The poll dates, however, are yet to be announced. The Cabinet decided to hold talks with all the political parties, prior to the date announcement, in order to build up conducive environment for the local elections. The Parliament has already endorsed all bills that the Election Commission had sought to conduct local elections.
