KATHMANDU: The Cabinet on Monday directed its Social Committee to discuss with stakeholders setting up a Medical Science Education Council as per the agreement with Dr Govinda KC. Dr KC had ended his 13-day fast-unto-death after reaching an agreement to form such a commission with the government. Minister for Information and Communications Minendra Rijal said the Cabinet promoted joint secretaries of Judicial Service Salik Ghimire and Mahesh Sharma Paudel to the post of secretary.

Ghimire has been posted as secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, while Paudey has become secretary at the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappearance of Persons (CIEDP). Revenue Secretary Rajan Khanal has been appointed as Chair of the Citizen Investment Trust. The meeting accepted the resignation tendered by Social Welfare Council member Chhatranath Timilsina and appointed Madhu Kumar Chalise.
