Call to alter curfew hours in Morang
Biratnagar, January 18:
The Morang Chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists has called on the district administration to alter the timing of curfew imposed in the district. FNJ, Morang stated there is no necessity of enforcing curfew in Morang.
On Tuesday, a team led by central vice-chairman of the FNJ, Sanjay Santoshi Rai, requested the chief district officer (CDO), Narendra Dahal, to alter the timing of the curfew. President of the FNJ Morang chapter, Shiva Karki, said curfew should be enforced in Biratnagar only after 11 pm.
Stating that curfew will be imposed in most of the districts of terai from 9 pm, Dahal asked the FNJ to take its demand to the Home Ministry. With effect from Monday, curfew has been enforced in Morang from from 9 pm to 4 am. Dahal said the curfew was enforced as per the Article 6 (Ka) of the Local Administration Act 2028.
Curfew has been enforced in Biratnagar and areas lying within Budhikhola of the Mahendra Highway to Urlabari, Maanwakhola of Morang. Dahal said curfew will be enforced in all 22 wards of Biratnagar.
