Kathmandu, July 18:
People from different walks of life have urged the government to ratify the Rome Statute of International Criminal Court (ICC) as soon as possible.
Rudra Kumar Nepal, under-secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), said the ministry had formed a taskforce to study and recommend suggestions to the ministry for the ratification of the treaty. â€œThe taskforce is analysing pros and cons of the ratification,â€Nepal added.
Nepal was addressing a public hearing organised by Citizensâ€™ Task Force to Combat Impunity.
Yagya Adhikari, an NHRC official, said, â€œNational Human Right Commission has included the agenda of ratification of the statute in its interim plan.â€
