Campus chief, cop hurt as students clash at Lamjung campus
LAMJUNG: Chief of theĀ Lamjung Campus under the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) and a police officer were injured when a clash erupted between cadres two student unions at the Campus in Sundar Bazaar on Monday.
Three students were also injured.
The clash erupted between the students affiliated to the Nepal Student Union (NSU) and the All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU) ahead of the Free Student Union (FSU) polls.
Campus Chief Lal Prasad Amgain and Sundar Bazaar Area Police Office Chief, Sub Inspector Homnath Adhikari were injured while trying to contain the clash.
The scuffle ensued when the students from both unions were holding a dialogue to reopen the Campus padlocked by the students of the UML-aligned ANNFSU on Sunday expressing dissatisfaction regarding the FSU election process.
The Tribhuvan University is holding the FSU polls at its colleges across the nation on Wednesday.
More police personnel have been mobilised in the area from Besisahar for security, Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur GC said.
