Candidates luring voters in Rautahat

As the third round of civic polls approach just around the corner, candidates from different political parties are busy luring the voters in Rautahat.

The candidates are now busy with door-to-door election publicity campaigns after receiving election symbols in the district. The candidates have been drawing the attention of voters by committing to construct roads, education facility, provide employment and establish industries, among others.

Two young candidates have registered their candidacy for mayoral posts in Katahariya and Rajpur Municipalities for the local level election slated for September 18 in Province 2.

Ajaya Prakash, 24, from the Nepali Congress in Katahariya Municipality and Shekh Jaiyad, 22, from Nepal Democratic Forum in Rajpur Municipality have registered their candidacy for the mayoral posts and are busy campaigning.

Prakash, the grandson of the operator of Jyoti Distillery Industry at Pipara Pokhariya and Birta, said that he had planned to provide one job to one family. He has been luring around thousands of young voters of Katahariya Municipality stating his plan. He assured that he would provide jobs to the youths of municipal areas in Om Brewery and Baijunath Sugar Industry. He further clarified that as many as 800 youths would be employed at two industries: Jyoti and Baba Distilleries, which would come into operation by November-December. Prakash said that at least 200 youths would also be employed in Om Brewery as the industry would be operated after two months.

Similarly, the youngest candidate in Rajpur Municipality Jaiyad said that quality education would be promoted for children of Muslims and Hindu communities as the municipality was backward in terms of basic facilities. He said that industrial corridors would be established for the management of employment. “Crime-free society will be established in the municipality,” he added.

Meanwhile, local educationist Rabindra Jha said that the candidates have been luring voters with different assurances. He said that a prosperous society would be build if the voters elected good candidates in the elections.
