CC cameras to be installed in Pokhara

Pokhara, November 27

Stakeholders have been pursuing discussions on installing close circuit cameras at the major thoroughfares of Pokhara city to enhance the tourist hub’s smart-city status with technical capabilities. The move will also address the city’s safety and security concerns.

Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industries has initiated talks in various phases with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, such as, entrepreneurs, bankers, traders, and the IT community, among others.

The participants of an interaction yesterday realised the need to install CC cameras to boost the city’s technological front and highlighted private-public partnership policy to execute and implement the project.

Pokhara Chambers of Commerce and Industries Chair Bishwoshankar Palikhe said Pokhara-Lekhnath metropolis needed to lead the project and also to initiate installation of night vision cameras with high-zooming features.

Metropolis mayor Man Bahadur GC said such technological upgrade was inevitable to secure Pokhara and sought cooperation from all sides, including security agencies and the private sector.

Chief District Officer Tara Nath Adhikari said the Ministry of Home Affairs had forwarded the proposal of installing CC cameras in Pokhara under ‘Police in Our Community’ campaign.
