CCGF to distribute 1,080 evergreen tree saplings
Kathmandu, September 23
The Chandra Gurung Conservation Foundation is organising an event to distribute 1,080 evergreen tree saplings of Rudraksha, Jacaranda, Ficus Benjamin, Kaiyo and Kapur at Moksh in Jhamsikhel of Lalitpur from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on the occasion of National Conservation Day tomorrow.
The benefits of trees are widely known to be myriad. Unlike traditional tree plantation events where the trees are planted in one location, the idea behind this event is to give away the tree saplings in flowerpots so that they can be planted in various places.
According to the event organisers, tickets for the event were printed on biodegradable lokta paper and delivered by eco friendly cycle couriers. Small metal signboards were given with the attendees’ chosen names painted on it for easy identification after the planting of saplings.
For individuals who do not have space in their homes to transplant the saplings, a list of public places including United Nations Park, Swoyambhu and Manmohan Park were made available.
In addition, instructions on the care of saplings and to transplant, was shared electronically.
In order to entertain those attending the event, The Word Warriors – national spoken word artistes, will be performing along with international spoken word artistes from India, Pakistan, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.
