Ccm of the cpn-m : Maoists discuss election strategy, manifesto

The central committee meeting (CCM) of the CPN-Maoist convened in Phulbari VDC of Kavre district yesterday. The meeting will chalk out the party’s strategy and come up with its manifesto for the constituent assembly polls.
Integration of the Maoists’ People’s Liberation Army with the Nepal Army and selection of candidates for the polls are also on the agenda.
Briefing media persons, Maoist spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara said the meeting is focusing on preparing the election manifesto and selection of candidates. He added that the meeting will discuss the integration of the Maoist People’s Liberation Army personnel with the Nepal Army, a vital element of the ongoing peace process. He said there should be no doubt about the Maoists’ intentions vis-a-vis the CA polls.
Meanwhile, Maoist chairman Prachanda issued directions to the party committee and went through reports submitted by leaders of different levels of the party and its frontal wings. The meeting also discussed the strategy to expose those opposed to the CA polls.
A committee was formed under the coordination of senior Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai to draft the manifesto, devise the poll strategy and populist programmes. The party will select candidates tomorrow, but the names will not be made public. The meeting, which is being attended by 35 top Maoist leaders, including Prachanda, Dr Bhattarai and Mahara, will end tomorrow evening.
