Biratnagar, May 1:

Thirteen-year-old Mohammad Tajib Ansari, a resident of Katari VDC in Morang district, has been illegally detained in Morang district jail for the past few days.

According to law, children cannot be imprisoned with other prisoners. Following the order of Morang CDO Narendra Dahal, Ansari was imprisoned here on April 11.

The Biratnagar-based Pro-public office today filed a case in the Appellate Court today against the illegal detention. According to Prakash Uprety of Pro-public, the file was cased because the child was detained against law. Ansari was jailed on charges of public abuse. CDO Dahal said he was ignorant of the matter. “I will look into the matter,” Dahal said.
