Chinese tourists among nine injured in Tanahun accident

DAMAULI: Six Chinese citizens were among the nine people injured after a truck hit a tourist bus heading in the same direction at Kamalbari in Byas Municipality-12, along Damauli--Dumre road section in Prithvi highway, on Wednesday.

According to District Police Office, Tanahun, Chinese tourists, drivers of both vehicles, and the guide were rushed to nearby Ratnahari Hospital in Damauli before being referred to Pokhara-based Manipal Hospital for further treatment.

However, police arrested the truck driver Ram Prasad Upadhaya, 33, of Rapti Municipality-8 in Chitwan district following his discharge from the hospital, for further investigation and action today.

The incident occurred when the truck (Na 6 Kha 5865) heading to Dumre from Damauli hit the tourist bus (Ba 1 Pa 913) en route to Pokhara from Kathmandu, this afternoon, police said.

Meanwhile, further investigation is underway, police said.
