Court records statements on Krishna Prasad Adhikari murder
CHITWAN: The Chitwan District Court on Sunday began recording statements of witnesses named by plaintiffs and defenders over the Krishna Prasad Adhikari murder case.
A Court official Bidyaraj Paudel said the hearing began today.
While 41 witnesses have registered their names to record statements, only eight including seven from plaintiffs and one from defendants' sides got the chance today.
Total 33 witnesses - 13 from plaintiffs and 20 from defendants - are yet to get the turns.
Adhikari, then a teenage boy from Phujel-7 of Gorkha district, was allegedly killed by the then CPN-Maoist cadres in Chitwan on June 6, 2004.
Few days after the crime, the victim's father late Nanda Prasad Adhikari had filed a complaint with police demanding action against murderers. The victim's brother Nur Prasad had also filed another complaint against 13 persons for their involvement in the murder of his younger sibling, after 1.5 years.
Following the dual complaints, police had moved the Court.
Of total 13 persons named defendants in the case, the Court on April 17, 2014 had released 11 – seven on bail and four on general date. Two others are still at large.
Demanding action against murderers of his son, Nanda Prasad repeatedly staged fast-unto-deaths. During the hunger strike, he breathed his last on September 22, 2014.
The victim's mother and wife of Nanda Prasad, Ganga Maya, had also accompanied Nanda Prasad in the strike. She has been threatening to resume the hunger strike even after the death of Nanda Prasad.
