Chitwan, Dhading landslides: Vehicular movement resumes partially

CHITWAN: Vehicular movement has resumed along Narayangadh-Muglin road section after piles of landslide debris from two places were removed in Chitwan district this morning.

The road section on Prithvi Highway had come to a total disruption due to landslides at Jalbire and Ghumaune at around 5:55 am today, following incessant rainfalls.

According to Assistant Sub Inspector of Police at District Police Office, Chitwan, Prem Karki, the piles of landslide debris were removed to enable traffic flow at around 9:00 this morning.

While the traffic movement has resumed in Chitwan, the landslide debris at Chumlingtar in Dhading district is yet to be cleared. A landslide that occurred at Chumlingtar of Muglin-Naubise road section along Prithvi Highway has disrupted vehicular movement since 6:45 this morning.

The vehicles en route to Kathmandu have now been stopped at Muglin while the outbound vehicles from Kathmandu are stranded near Jogimara, awaiting the clearing of landslide debris.

Landslides have been an intermittent phenomenon in both the areas of Chitwan and Dhading since the beginning of monsoon.
