Chitwan rape-accused arrested from India

CHITWAN: A person accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in Chitwan district was arrested after seven days from India.

District Police Office (DPO), Chitwan made the information public through a press meet on Tuesday.

According to Chief at the DPO, Superintendent of Police Sushil Singh Rathore, the victim was raped in Bharatpur Metropolitan City area on November 10.

A team led by Police Inspector Ganesh Poudel arrested Rajan BK (27) of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-13 from Gurgaon in India on November 17, SP Rathore further informed, adding that the police was successful in finding BK's whereabouts by tracking his mobile phone.

The accused had reached Gurgaon after spending one night in Bardaghat of Nawaparasi and another night in Butwal of Rupandehi, shared SP Rathore. It has been learnt that BK had left with his wife with the intention of running away.

Police received a complaint against the accused stating that on the evening of November 10 he had taken the girl to a deserted area on his motorcycle and raped her. The complaint had been lodged on November 11.

The accused has been remanded to judicial custody for a period of seven days under the instruction of Chitwan District Court to carry out investigation into the case.
