Chronic drinking water crisis forces Terhathum villagers to migrate

TERHATHUM: Residents from around a dozen villages of Terhathum district bordering the Tamor River have been migrating every year due to the chronic water crisis.

The local of Iwa, Hwaku, Chatedhunga, Chuhandanda, Sakranti, Thoklung of Aathrai area and Hamarjung, Okhre, Sudaap, Phakchamara and Panchakanya of Chathar area are facing problems for the want of fresh drinking water.

The water resources in the villages including the water taps and wells have already dried up, forcing them to the migrate.

Many villagers spend a whole day just on fetching a bucket of water, Panchakanya's Yasodha Dahal said.
