CIAA orders to suspend land sale bid in Birgunj
BIRGUNJ: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed Parsa Land Revenue Office to suspend the process to sell the land owned by District Cooperative Union Limited.
The CIAA intervened after the DCUL board decided to sell the land located at Shripur in Birgunj-10. The immovable property was provided by the government. DCUL employees lodged a complaint at the District Administration Office on Friday demanding that the sale be put on hold citing that they had not been paid their due salaries. A group led by Shiva Patel, district secretary of Nepal Sadbhavana Party, had also registered a complaint at the DAO.
Following the pleas, the anti-graft constitutional body wrote to the LRO to suspend the land sale. Gobinda Bahadur Shrestha, Senior Departmental Engineer, CIAA, directed the LRO to suspend the process until further notice. State Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Karima Begum is said to have been pressing the land revenue officer to sell the land. Parsa CDO said the administration had halted the bid since the property was owned by the state, while no authorised agency had permitted DCUL to do so.
