CIAA seizes bribe money at office

CHITWAN: A special team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) raided Survey Office Chitwan and seized one lakh rupees taken as bribe money. The team has taken an intermediary under control for abetting the bribe. The survey officer accused of receiving bribe is at large. Moti Bahadur Baraili from Narayangadh had informed the CIAA about the bribe being sought. He handed over Rs one lakh to survey officer Ramakant Acharya through intermediaries Dil Bahadur Budhathoki and Hari Acharya after Ramakant sought the bribe to register Baraili’s land that was missing in the map. The CIAA team seized the bribe amount from Budhathoki.

10 years' jail for rapist

JANAKPURDHAM: A single bench of district judge Krishna Bahadur Thapa sentenced Dipendra Tiwari, who was convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl at his home three months ago. The victim and her family used to live at Tiwari’s house in Ramananda Chowk as tenants. The court has also ordered Tiwari to pay three lakh rupees in compensation to the victim.
