Citizenship certificates distribution teams, which began their work a week ago, have distributed citizenship certificates to 6,649 persons in the far-west as of Sunday.

Sub-regional administrator of the Far-Western Regional Administrative Office (FWRAO), Dipayal, Basanta Bhattarai, said, citizenship certificates were distributed to 6,649 persons in Far West till Sunday.

“The teams distributed citizenship certificates to 25 persons in Bajhang, 840 persons in Doti, 325 persons in Kailali, 710 persons in Darchula, 2502 persons in Baitadi, 1363 persons in Kanchanpur. Data from Bajura and Accham could not be available due to the lack of the facility of means of communication,” Bhattarai said.

“Fifty-two teams are mobilised to distribute citizenship certificates in nine districts in the far-west. Each team comprises seven members,” Bhattarai said.

“More staffers have been sent to VDCs having no VDC secretaries to distribute citizenship certificates,” FWRAO (Dipayal) said.

Social workers, leaders and cadres of political parties are helping the teams.

General convention member of the Nepali Congress in Doti, Ram Bahadur Rokaya, said, “Party cadres and local leaders are helping the teams distribute citizenship certificates.”

Maoists said that they are also helping the teams.
