Civil servants threaten to launch agitation
Nepalgunj, April 9:
The seventh national conference of the Civil Servants’ Organisation (CSO) concluded here today. It was decided in the meet to stage an agitation if the Civil Administration Act were not promulgated at the earliest.
The conference also passed proposals, including the demand of representation of civil servants in the constituent assembly, rights of trade unions and implementing the 15-year promotion system with evaluation of work, the newly-elected CSO chairperson Ganesh Basyal said, adding that the CSO will launch protest programmes if the Civil Administration Act was not implemented soon.
A statement issued after the conference condemned the acts of killings and abductions of the civil servants and demanded the release of Saptari DEO Nibh Raj Joshi and medical superintendent of Siraha Hospital Dr Murali Prasad Singh. The conference that began on April 6 has formed a 45-member committee under the chairmanship of Basyal.
