A clash erupted between the Nepali Congress’ establishment and Sher Bahadur Deuba’s factions on the issue of representative selection at Constituency No 3 in Rautahat today.

The clash erupted during the regional convention of Constituency No 3 at Himal Guest House in Chandranigahapur today.

It is said that vehicular movement had also been obstructed after the dispute between the two sides intensified.

The establishment faction’s central member Mohammad Aftab Alam and Deuba faction’s Krishna Prasad Yadav thrashed each other for majority representatives for the upcoming 13th general convention of the party.

However, Alam said that he would be following democratic norms and values to settle the dispute. He accused Yadav’s faction of being responsible for the clash and termed it a defeated mentality.

It is said that the establishment faction’s Shekha Imtiyaz sustained injuries when he was hit with the chair when the two sides clashed.

Police personnel from Area Police Office and APF had brought the situation under control, said DSP Monaj Yadav.
