Classes resume in Tikapur schools
Dhangadi, September 8
Schools in ten VDCs, including Tikapur, resumed lasses from today.
The schools had remained shut due to the ongoing strikes called by various agitating groups for the last 35 days.
Nepal Students’ Union Kailali Chairman Binay Lama said the classes had resumed after the agitating parties, student unions and local administration inked a deal. Lama informed that classes in the higher secondary level and colleges had resumed for now and discussion to open all educational institutions was under way. He held that bandhs, curfew and prohibitory order had halted classes at all levels for 35 days.
Kailali assistant CDO Uday Bahadur Singh said teaching-learning activities had started in higher secondary schools and colleges from today and all other schools would resume classes from Wednesday.
To ease things, DAO has planned to lift the curfew from 6:00am to 12:00 noon. Singh said DAO was not in a position to lift the curfew completely.
Schools in Dhangadi resumed classes last Sunday. They have been operating classes in the morning. Last Saturday, agitating parties, student leaders and DAO had signed an agreement to reopen schools in the areas.

Kailali District Education Officer Ganesh Bahadur Singh said it would take some more time to reopen schools in Tikapur due to the volatile security situation.
