KATHMANDU, JULY 11

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma today said that the relevance of the current coalition government had ended and the government should not continue.

Oli said at a press conference that the coalition government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba was dead and harmful. "This government will spread cholera. This government will pollute society," he added. He compared the coalition government with Satidevi who could not come to life even after being carried by Lord Shiva.

He said the government had allowed entry of outsiders into the Ministry of Finance to tweak the budget, particularly to change tax rates in order to benefit favourite business houses. He said the interference of irrational elements in the budget could devastate the country's economy. Oli said the government's mismanagement of the economy could lead to a situation like that of Sri Lanka. "We can even be worse than Sri Lanka," he added.

In response to a question about the left alliance, Oli said that he had forged and run the alliance in the past and he was well aware of the problems that arose. "Some people marry their partners but soon they get divorced.

They repeat the same thing again. This means the marriages are fake and only divorces are true. UML is not in favour of a fake marriage,"

Oli added. He said state power was not everything for his party.

He opposed the Supreme Court's recent verdict against government's decision to build an international airport at Nijgadh saying the apex court was interfering in a development project in the name of environment. He said the court should deliver its verdicts on the basis of experts' opinion in cases involving development projects. He also said that Nijgadh airport could be built at the same place, and there was no need to allot 8,000 hectares land.
