An elderly citizen died and another one has fallen unconscious due to severe cold in Gaur of Rautahat on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Dhupa Raya Yadav, 65, of Gaur Municipality of the district. A neighbour Rabi Yadav said Dhupa Raya had fallen unconscious at around 6:00 am.

Similarly, Baidhyanath Prasad Kalawar, 40, of Garuda Municipality fell unconscious at Gamhariya Birta Chowk of the district on Tuesday morning. He was rushed to Anamika Hospital for treatment. Kalawar was heading for Chandranigahapur on his motorcycle.

Police said Kalawar health condition was gradually improving. Cold wave has affected normal life in Gaur.

Coordinator of District Disaster and Rescue committee and the Chief District Officer Narahari Baral urged locals to keep themselves warm.
