Cold wave affects life in western Tarai

RAJAPUR: Cold waves have started affecting day-to-day life in the districts of western Tarai including Bardiya. Cold has significantly increased with the presence of thick fog till late morning.

Students, teachers and workers are finding it very difficult to carry out their daily activities while children and elderly people have been affected the most by the adverse weather.

With the dipping temperature, there has been increased risk of pneumonia and other pulmonary diseases. Locals are seen around bonfires to avoid the chilling cold.

Life in the mornings and evenings has become difficult although brief sunshine is seen during the daytime, said a local of Madhuwan in Bardiya district, Yam Prasad Sharma.

The cold wave has its implications on winter vegetable crops as well, added a  local farmer Jayram Chaudhary.
